MPA submission to Commerce Commission regarding NZ Post enquiry

The MPA and Print NZ have contacted the Commerce Commission and various ministers requesting an enquiry into NZ Post pricing and its impact on the magazine industry.

Postal pricing is a structural cost for every subscription-based publisher in New Zealand. Successive rises have outpaced inflation and put pressure on titles that depend on reliable, affordable delivery to reach readers across Aotearoa.

The submission outlines the cumulative impact on member publishers, the absence of viable competing distribution networks, and the case for regulatory review.

The MPA will continue to advocate alongside Print NZ and members for a fair and sustainable delivery model that recognises the role of print in New Zealand's media ecosystem.
